Rehoboth Beach

I'm gonna get this summer vacation post in just under the wire...... hahaha :)

We went down to Rehoboth Beach Delaware again for some family vacation time. We get the same condo on the beach every year that has a front row view of the 4th of July fireworks. It's just a little studio apartment with a murphy bed, but what else do you need at the beach, right??

 The view from the top.....

There was a small trail through Cape Henlopen State Park that they made much, much bigger and really nice. It's such a great ride or walk through the woods by the ocean and bay, the marsh lands and the abandoned army base there. You can go all the way from the parking lot at Cape Henlopen Beach to Lewes Delaware.

They built these amazing boardwalks over the marshy areas.

This is one of the abandoned buildings.

There are also the barracks and huge old guns....

 A close up.....

The Mister wouldn't leave without me sitting in one.

There are a few nice look out points on The Great Dune.

I know no one wants to go to war, but..... not a bad spot to be stationed.

We ate at The Cultured Pearl one night. I was there years ago when it was in another location..... this spot really is amazing. You come in through an indoor mall, up these stairs.... they have an amazing indoor garden on your way up.

You can eat inside or......... on the rooftop deck!!
Amazing. So beautiful when it's a gorgeous night.

I'm not a huge sushi eater, but this stuff is amazing!!

The Mister's sashimi was one of the most amazing things I've seen....

A great week as always, even thought the Mister ended up at the doctor with an ear infection :(  Hopefully we can go again next year.....

Here's to summer,

Long overdue update

Well, it certainly has been awhile. I have seriously slacked on the blog front for quite awhile.

In my defense, the Mister has his woodworking business full time now and that has been quite an adjustment. We started in the fall of last year, which is never a good time to start a carpentry business, but we made it through the winter and have been busy ever since the spring.

We are just now starting to settle into a routine and getting used to self employment. (even though I still have a full time job) I am in charge of clerical duties..... a never ending job :) As anyone who is self employed knows, it is all- encompassing. It is very satisfying though, and hopefully one day soon I can follow suit.

I had a great birthday in April......

The Mister got me this great taxidermy bat.....

Then (because I am a true child of the seventies, raised on fondue) off to the Melting Pot....... yum!

And more cheesy birthday entertainment on the weekend with some Medieval Times :)

I had never been and I decided that this must be rectified. I even caught the flower from the green knight!! :)

I got my swag from my Kickstarter donation to the book No Slam Dancing No Stage Diving No Spikes - an oral history of ’80s-era alternative, metal and punk rock music told through the portal of one club – Trenton, New Jersey’s legendary City Gardens.
Which I'm still reading since I'm so busy ;)

Spent allot of time in the garden.... unloading 2 dump trucks of mulch, building some rock walls, a dry riverbed and some bush planting..... more on that another time.

Even carved out some time for some nature walks......

So that gets us up to June......  now I need to go write up some estimates for customers. Here's to getting it all done while still finding finding balance in life......

NYC all Week....

So, I had to be in the city for the Home Textiles Market week all last week. Usually, I only have to go in for a couple meetings.... but this time they wanted me there all week for them all...... ugh ;)
It's nice to get to show the things that you've worked so hard designing to the industry but meetings all day for several days is rough ;)

On Thursday morning I finally got a couple hours to go to Macy's to check out what's new over there and also....... to check out the Macy's Flower Show!!

After a long winter it was nice to stop and smell the flowers for awhile......

And check out this awesome lady....

I can't even imagine the man hours it took to assemble such amazing displays.....

And of course the outside windows were all decorated as well.....

Not the best photos as all I had was my phone and I was rushing through the store before work, but I think that since winter is reluctantly relinquishing it's grasp, any taste of spring is a welcome sight.

Take time to smell the flowers,
♥jenny

Estate Sales

I haven't been to an estate sale in AGES. It was finally kind of warm out and I felt like taking a drive. It's funny, I am mostly in the mood to go to estate sales in the winter...... weird. I really enjoy going but it has gotten so tough over the years. Things are so much more expensive than they used to be. I guess I 'm always looking for that great deal, the amazing find..... the one dirty crusty thing that everyone overlooked that is actually cool.....

Anyhoo.... I did get some stuff, some things a better deal than others....

A couple paint by numbers, one was $10 one was $2...... not too bad :)

Cute little glass container..... couple bucks I think. Missed a little chip on the inside though... oh well....

Cool typewriter tins with the brand new ribbons inside. And and old Kodak lens. Impulse buys....

A couple ceramic planters I needed to re-pot some plants. Photos later after they perk up post re-potting :)

A couple old bracelets....... more impulse buys. I definitely don't need anymore jewelry, but you know how it goes....

Last but not least this super cute handmade feather Indian Headdress for $2!
What a steal!! ....... Love :) As usual the Mister got himself a nice box of old tools and random dude stuff :)
Hoping to hit the sales again this weekend....

Happy Hunting,

Marvelous Movie Monday....... Bernie

Well, I just watched this movie last week while Mother Nature dropped a foot of snow on us. I give you Bernie.... a true story of a beloved assistant funeral director in a small Texas town who becomes good friends with the town's meanest richest resident. Under her increasing berating and controlling behavior the worst case senario ends up coming true.

This has been in my Amazon queue for quite awhile.... now I'm not sure why I waited so long.

I already love Jack Black and Matthew McConaughey so I am kind of biased but, I really liked this film. The acting was superb, I love the whole feel of the movie and I especially liked the commentary of the town residents throughout.

Such an entertaining and darkly funny movie..... and Jack Black just kills it. I love seeing him in less slapstick roles. I highly recommend this one :)

Happy Watching,
