Estate Sales

I haven't been to an estate sale in AGES. It was finally kind of warm out and I felt like taking a drive. It's funny, I am mostly in the mood to go to estate sales in the winter...... weird. I really enjoy going but it has gotten so tough over the years. Things are so much more expensive than they used to be. I guess I 'm always looking for that great deal, the amazing find..... the one dirty crusty thing that everyone overlooked that is actually cool.....

Anyhoo.... I did get some stuff, some things a better deal than others....

A couple paint by numbers, one was $10 one was $2...... not too bad :)

Cute little glass container..... couple bucks I think. Missed a little chip on the inside though... oh well....

Cool typewriter tins with the brand new ribbons inside. And and old Kodak lens. Impulse buys....

A couple ceramic planters I needed to re-pot some plants. Photos later after they perk up post re-potting :)

A couple old bracelets....... more impulse buys. I definitely don't need anymore jewelry, but you know how it goes....

Last but not least this super cute handmade feather Indian Headdress for $2!
What a steal!! ....... Love :) As usual the Mister got himself a nice box of old tools and random dude stuff :)
Hoping to hit the sales again this weekend....

Vintage Umbrella

Happy day, happy day!!! I have been wanting a vintage patio umbrella for awhile now. I have just never had the luck to find one for a reasonable price. Actually, I have found only a couple...... they remain elusive..... just out of my reach.

Yet I search..... and search...... I pray to the flea market/ picker gods....... I begin to covet the collection of one of my favorite bloggers, Mary Deluxe. (I even miss her sell one)

Then,  lo and behold! The Mister returns with one! AND IT WAS FREE!!!!

Sadly it belonged to his late Great Aunt, but that makes it even more special to me :)

It is even my favorite color!

With such cute flowers inside!!

And it even goes with my new cushions.  Kismet. Don't you just love when things work out :)

Happy hunting,

Brimfield Antique Show 2013

As usual, my blogging has been infrequent since the warm weather arrived.  We have been busy, busy beavers over here..... lots and lots of garden projects that I will post at a later date :)

We did take a break a few weeks ago to attend the Brimfield Antique Show in Brimfield, Massachusetts. It is a gigantic Antique show that runs along a mile of road and has around 6,000 dealers ;)

On the way up, we stopped at Louis' Lunch. Birthplace of the hamburger. We attempted to stop last year but neglected to notice they are closed on Mondays ;)
It's a teeny tiny place and it gets pretty crowded so I would recommend going when they first open. It is in the original historic building that was moved in the 70's to save it from demolition.

The inside is cozy and full of history with walls and tables covered in many decades worth patron's initials carved into the wood.

Their claim to fame is the little upright original cast iron stoves that they cook your burger in.

And let me tell you.... the burgers are FANTASTIC!

Another happy customer!!!

The next morning I was up bright and early and READY TO SHOP!!!!!

Even the Mr. found himself a super fantastic cowboy hat :)
Oh, lovely mermaid. I wanted her oh so badly but could not bring myself to spend $250.

I am in love with these giant umbrellas.... how cool would that be to have in your backyard!!

As usual I had a fantastic time. I even got to watch them film Flea Market Flip :)

I didn't get anything big. Just a bunch of small stuff.... I realized I am developing  cooler/ thermos problem....... ;)

How cut is that toy mixer!!! I could just die. I had to have it :)

Happy Hunting!

Brimfield Antique Show

A few weeks ago we went to the Brimfield Antique Show. It's held every year in May, July and September in Brimfield Massachusetts. It is one of the largest in the country with over 5,000 dealers covering 21 fields and is over a mile long.

We stayed at the Sturbridge Host Hotel 10 miles down the road. Brimfield is pretty small and only has a few B&B's that fill up quickly.

It is a cute old hotel on Cedar Lake.

They're common area is pretty unique.....

It's looks like it was originally an outdoor area that they inclosed.

The center section is several raised areas with gazebos over them and the pool at one end. It looks like they do events... would be a cute place for a wedding ♥

The whole area is surrounded by hotel rooms that have cute little balconies over looking the courtyard.

It has a nice lake you can swim in ans a restaurant inside and one right next door.

Now to the important stuff.......

Here's a shot of the road........

A really awesome vintage camping tent. how cool is that thing???? The mister was totally smitten♥

Some cool old Mason jars......

And some great vintage Christmas ornaments....

Some great outdoor chairs.....

The MOST amazing jukebox I have ever seen.....

It was, of course, SUPER expensive but admiring it is free...

Now for my purchases....

Totally amazing vintage string art. I have been itching to make one and this one is great inspiration, plus I absolutely love peacocks.

My find of the weekend..... I needed new dining room chairs and oh, did I find some!

Super awesome 60's vinyl chairs, each one a different color. Yay me.

A few pieces of Fire King luster
for really cheap.

The Mister found a banjo that someone never finished making.

A super cute black chalk ware poodle...

Some cool vintage
kitchen gadget that
I have NO idea what it does..... but it looks cool :)

A vintage drying rack. The photo doesn't do it justice...
I will have to post it once it's hug up.

I had a super good time and I highly recommend it if you get the chance to go.

Now....... I just need to make it to the World's Longest Yard Sale..... :)

Happy shopping!

The Fair. then.... Jackalope

As always, while antiquing for things I kind of need for decorating the house (like floor lamps), I found awesome things I don't need but just had to have :)

Our day actually started the at the Sussex County Fair which I go to every year. It is a great fair with all your typical yummy and bad for you fair food,

rides, vendors, tons of 4-H animal awesomeness.....

even chainsaw sculptors and acrobats!

One of my favorite things is homemade ice cream made by a mini steam engine :)

Of course on our way home I had to swing in to a couple of my favorite shops. Made a couple small purchases and moved on to one of my favorite shops..... and there he was.... the majestic jackalope.....

Pictured here on my book cases.

I have no taxidermy because I am soooooo picky about the faces. But this guy..... so perfect. Perfect little face, nice antlers. Plus the Mister has wanted one for. like. ever.

Next stop produced this gem! A Burwood wall plaque. I am not familiar with it but I was smitten right away.

The only problem is that is broken on top so I must figure out the proper way to repair it. Something tell me it will be worth it :)

happy hunting,
