Niagara Falls!! part 1

A couple of weeks ago I took my first trip to Canada to Niagara Falls!!

We drove up early in the morning, tried to check into the hotel to no avail..... So, Toronto.....

 

We went to the CN Tower. I was a little nervous, sometimes heights are a problem for me. Not to mention sardine like packed elevators :/

  But I powered through and it was worth it!!

Hands down one of the funniest signs I've ever seen. 

There is a glass floor you can stand on. I managed to do it but oh, it made my stomach flip :)

Oh yeah... It aint Canada without moose!!

There was a super cool train exhibit right behind the tower. 

I'm not super into trains, but these were cool. 

Some awesome sculpture on a building. 

The only decent Canadian flag shot I got all weekend :/

Got back to Niagara after dark. Wow. It's like Seaside Height meets Time Square. 

The 'Upside Down House'. Couldn't bring myself to spend $18 to go in.

Friday Favorites..... Films! Auntie Mame

Auntie Mame is a true classic, Rosalind Rusell's best performance. I never get tired of this movie. I can watch it over and over...... and over :)

It's the story of an orphaned boy who is sent to live with his eccentric Aunt. Many madcap adventures ensue as the trustee of the boy's inheritance tries to ensure he has a proper education and keep him from being influenced by his Aunt's crazy lifestyle. 

"Please dear, your Auntie Mame's hung."

"Life is a banquet! And most poor suckers are starving to death!"

 

 Gorgeous sets, fantastic costumes, superb cast.... one of the greats.

 "Books are awfully decorative, don't you think?"

 "Patrick, I shall open doors for you. Doors you never dreamed existed."

 "I just came from the most dreadful party where they served nothing with daiquiris with honey"

Toads!

One of my favorite things about having a garden is all the toads it attracts to my yard. They are like my little outdoor pets :)  I love toads, can't get enough of them. I pet them all the time. The Mister always yells that I'm bothering them till he saw how they lean into my finger when I rub their cheeks :)

This house didn't have any gardens to speak of so I have been busy making them. They have attracted all kinds if wildlife..... Lots more birds, butterflies, honeybees, the occasional frog in my pool in need of rescue, a wayward turtle and Lots of toads :)

A few weeks ago it was getting dark and I was cleaning up outside and almost *gasp* stepped on a big 'ol granddaddy toad. He was spectacular. Until I found this guy under a half used bag of peat on my driveway......

Good lord! The biggest toad I've ever seen!!!

How amazing is he??

I have named him Big Joe Toad. In honor of Big Joe Henry on 101.5 oldies station that is my yard work soundtrack ;)

Friday Favorites...... Films! Almost Famous

We have been having a cool weather in the evenings snap here on the East Coast after our brutal heat wave and it has gotten me in the mood for one of my fall time favorites.... Almost Famous.

I love snuggling up in a cool fall evening with this movie and letting it wash over me like a big fuzzy blanket. 

A couple of years ago Me and the Mister were hanging out at our house with my sister and she mentioned she had never seen it......!!!!!! Well. I just about vaulted out if my seat to grab the DVD. I mean, we had to watch it right then, no?

Ahhhh..... the band aids.....

This movie is just so uplifting and inspirational.... It makes me want to create..... Get in the car and embark on a fantastic journey..... Or both. 

It's a semi-autobiographical coming of age story about a teenage boy given the chance to write a article about a rock band and ends up getting dragged on tour with them to get the story.

Great acting, great soundtrack, great film..... and Zoey. What's not to love about that.

Friday Favorites.... Films! Tron Legacy

TRON: Legacy

I know...... So many people hate this movie. I don't care. I love, love, love it.

It is not the best story in the world.... but the visuals, the soundtrack..... the whole mood of the movie sucks me in EVERY time :)

 

 The son of a virtual world designer goes looking for his father and ends up inside the digital world that his father designed. He meets his father's creation turned bad and a unique ally who was born inside the digital domain of The Grid. ©IMDb.com

The special effects are and eye candy extravaganza that should not be missed. So grab some guilty pleasure snacks, settle in and watch this awesome flick :)

And seriously, who doesn't want a light up bubble umbrella....

Rehoboth Beach Vacation!!

Last week we went to Rehoboth Beach in Delaware to surprise my Dad for his 60th birthday. My parents go down every year for the 4th of July/ Dad's B-day so I thought it would be fun to surprise him.

My family started going to Rehoboth around 26 years ago. It was always our summer vacation. Ironic, I know, considering I live in New Jersey and cold go to the shore here ;)

My parents still go every year but I haven't been in at least 6 or so.

 There was lots of ice cream eating....

 And shopping.....

 Best of all, there was Mini Golf!!!!

Then there was Alyah..... the resident fun maker in our lobby.... isn't she the cutest??
