Summer Recap

For me, Summer is not over on Labor Day. It's not over until the first day of Fall, which is tomorrow. So now that it really is over, I thought I would take a minute to reflect on all the awesomeness of this Summer.

1. Brimfield Antique Show and Sturbridge Village.

This year at Brimfield I learned that I am not a get there at the beginning and get the good stuff person, I am a go the last day and get a great deal person :)

2. Got tons of amazing strawberries from my garden,

and some unexpected raspberries.

3. Moved A LOT of trees.

4. Surprised my Dad for his birthday in Rehoboth Beach the week of the 4th of July.

Even my sister came down to surprise him. It was so amazing to have a family vacation after not having one for many years, we all had such a fantastic time.

5. Built a rock wall.

6. Went up to Niagara Falls.

Another amazing trip!

7. Built another patio :)

8. Spent lots of time by the pool.

Swimming is Kozmo's FAVORITE!

9. Put up a hammock.

10. Went to the Fair.

11. Organized my Garbage room.

 Hey. It's the little things in life, ya know :)

12. Went on lots of hikes.

13. Had a fantastic TIKI party and Labor Day family picnic. (with no photos.... Booooo!!)

14. Went to Diesel Truck Nationals.

Whew! All in all a really great summer, even though it was a late start weather- wise. Did a lot of work, and had a lot of fun. I hate to see it go, but oh, how I love fall! 

Well, the sun has come back out and it has turned into a beautiful day so off I go to soak up this Last Day of Summer......

Day off :)

Thanks to the Jewish Holiday I have had two days off. Yesterday was filled with errands and paperwork :( Today I motivated to paint the basement bathroom, phase one of 'yucky bathroom redo'..... And forgot to take before photos, Grrrrr.

Any-hoo, I think I earned a couple hours relaxing by the pool, as I believe this might be the last gasp of summer weather.

I am not sure that I will be able to summon up the courage to go in though....... The water is a balmy 68 degrees. Brrrrr.

Well, I did it. I went in the pool..... And it was COLD!!!! I just had to go in one last time :( 

I really love Fall but I also hate saying goodbye to summer. I think because I don't want to accept what comes after Fall..... Winter. Bleh. But that's a story for another time.

Deisel Truck Nationals

I can't help it....  love fast cars.....  love big trucks :)

  So every year we go to the Diesel Truck Nationals a Raceway Park. 

Oh yeah. Truck races, Monster trucks, jet cars!!!

My favorite of all is the jet cars. They are so fast you can feel it in your chest :)

Vintage Umbrella

Happy day, happy day!!! I have been wanting a vintage patio umbrella for awhile now. I have just never had the luck to find one for a reasonable price. Actually, I have found only a couple...... they remain elusive..... just out of my reach. 

Yet I search..... and search...... I pray to the flea market/ picker gods....... I begin to covet the collection of one of my favorite bloggers, Mary Deluxe. (I even miss her sell one)

Then,  lo and behold! The Mister returns with one! AND IT WAS FREE!!!!

Sadly it belonged to his late Great Aunt, but that makes it even more special to me :)

It is even my favorite color!

With such cute flowers inside!!

And it even goes with my new cushions.  Kismet. Don't you just love when things work out :)

Marvelous Movie Monday....... Brat Pack Collection

On this slow rainy Labor Day Monday all I  can think of is movies. A whole collection in fact. Some of my all time favorites are the John Hughes movies. Come to think of it I think they are some of everyone's favorite movies :)

Rainy or cold winter days make me think of something I have always wanted to do..... watch all the Brat Pack Movies back to back.......

 Alas, today is not that day. But one day....... oh, yes. One day.

Happy Labor Day!

So this is what Labor Day in Jersey is looking like........ :(

A little wet, sad and rainy. I am a little bummed but they called for rain all weekend and it held off until yesterday evening, so I can't really complain. 

On Saturday we did some amazing organizing in our 'garbage room'. It has been a total wreck since we moved in two years ago and we finally motivated to hang some shelves and organize a bunch of stuff that has been hanging around taking up space in the Mister's barn.

I forgot to get some before shots, but trust me when I say it was gross ;) Here it is cleaner and with some added shelving.

 All organized.

All my garden tools have a spot....

And even a nice container of sand and a bit of oil for my hand tools..... yay :) 

Then yesterday we had a family picnic and the weather held out for most of the day......

Everyone got a little pool time in. So, I can't really complain. I had two really full days so I could use a nice slow day to relax and maybe catch a movie. Speaking of which, I just noticed The Big Year is on HBO again......  I guess I'll just have to go watch it ;)
